How Neolag Was Born

After more than 25 years in the plumbing industry, Josh Leitner had seen the same problem play out time and time again — the struggle to properly isolate drainage pipes passing through concrete.

On larger jobs, wrapping and taping pipes with traditional foam wrap or lagging was a slow, awkward process. Working around steel, formwork, and tight spaces made it almost impossible to get a consistent seal. Even when done right, the material often tore or slipped once other trades came through.

“I’ve been on countless sites where we’d spend hours wrapping and taping, only to come back later and find it had frayed or fallen off completely,” Josh recalls. “It was just one of those jobs every plumber hated — fiddly, messy, and unreliable.”

That frustration sparked the idea for Neolag — a pre-formed neoprene sleeve that simply slides over the pipe, like a stubby holder. The flexible, high-resilience design stretches to fit around bends and awkward spots, making installation faster, cleaner, and a true one-man job.

Josh worked closely with manufacturers to prototype the sleeve, testing different materials and blends until he found the perfect balance of flexibility, durability, and performance.

“We just wanted to make something that actually worked — something that would save time on site and hold up for the life of the building,” says Josh.

From that idea, Neolag was born — a plumber-designed innovation built to solve a problem the industry had put up with for far too long.
